We keep saying that the KTM Duke 200 has to be one of the nicest things to have happened to Indian biking lot in the recent times. One of the USPs of the Katoom has been its very aggressive selling price. However, Bajaj Auto Limited, the Austrian’s bike Indian partner, has decided to increase the price of its flagship offering by a good INR 8000. The bike, which was first priced at INR 1.17 lakhs, now costs INR 1.29 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
In spite of the price increase, the Duke is much more potent than the Honda CBR150R, which retails for INR 1.17 lakhs but offers lower performance. The bigger Honda, the CBR250R, costs about INR 1.6 lakhs and yet fails to offer as much as the Duke 200 on power/rupee quotient. All this means that Bajaj needs not worry about sales of the KTM taking a dip and we still see the Duke at the top of sales chart for at least some more time.
