There is no denying that the KTM 200 Duke enabled the Austrian bike manufacturer to establish a strong foothold in Indian Two Wheelers industry. The KTM 200 Duke, which was launched around a couple of years ago, was quick to become a hot-favorite and was seen giving some troublesome nights to rivaling bike makers in its segment.
The KTM 200 Duke enjoyed quite some limelight, until the advent of the big brother 390 Duke. Powered by a 44bhp 375cc engine, the 390 Duke has been quick in getting to the top of the wishlist of most bike aficionados in India. The 390 Duke looks much like the 200 sibling and shares plenty with her smaller sibling. On features front too, there is nothing really to tell apart the two bikes, with the exception of ABS unit of course!
However, if the latest rumors are to be believed, this disparity is set to vanish with the advent of KTM 200 Duke ABS variant! Yes, you read it right, KTM India might indeed bring an ABS-equipped variant of the smaller Duke to us.
KTM earlier launched the 2014 Duke 200 in European markets. The 2014 model of this entry level model in Duke line up sports an ABS unit and a slightly bigger fuel tank. This is exactly the model that has decent chances of making it to us. A KTM 200 Duke test mule was recently spotted by the good folks at BikeAdvice. The photographers believe that KTM India has commenced the testing of the 2014 KTM 200 Duke ABS in India and the updated bike might be really close to making its India debut.
Other than boasting of an ABS unit, the new 2014 KTM 200 Duke also enjoys 0.5 litres of additional fuel capacity. The 2014 model is 4.5 kgs heavier than the 200 Duke we have been riding, which means that the updated bike tips the scales at just a little less than 130 kgs.
Bajaj hasn’t divulged any plans of bringing the 2014 KTM 200 Duke ABS to India but we have already started digging for more information on this and safely expect us to update you as soon as we manage to find some more dope on KTM 200 Duke ABS India launch.
Our guess is that KTM 200 Duke ABS India debut might happen at the fast approaching Auto Expo 2014!
