Kia Sonet 2023

What’s New in the updated Kia Sonet?

As the deadline for the new emission norms approaches, car manufacturers are gearing up to update their engines to comply with the latest standards. Following the trend, Kia has updated its popular SUV, the Sonet, with a new BS6 Stage 2 compliant powertrain to reduce pollution levels. In addition to mechanical updates, the 2023 Kia Sonet comes packed with a host of standard features, including Idle Start/Stop, 4 airbags, ABS with EBD, and parking sensors. Moreover, the car boasts several premium features, such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with navigation, a 4.2-inch colored instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, and a Bose premium sound system with LED mood lights. With these updates, the Kia Sonet is fully equipped to comply with the upcoming emission and safety norms.

Tweaks in the Powertrain

Kia has tweaked the engines in the 2023 update of the Kia Sonet in order to comply with the latest emission norms. The base engine is a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine making 82hp and 115nm of output. However, those demanding more power can go with the 1.0L Turbo-GDi engine that makes 118hp and 172nm of output. Fortunately, Kia Sonet is still available with a mile-munching 1.5L U2 CRDi diesel engine which makes 113hp and 250nm of output. The 1.2L petrol is available with a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.0 turbo can be had with either an IMT or a DCT transmission. And the diesel engine is now available with either an IMT or an Automatic Transmission. Unfortunately, Kia has discontinued the diesel manual powertrain in all of its updated models.

Price And Competition

With this update, Kia has revised the prices of Sonet. The price range of the updated Kia Sonet starts from Rs. 7.79 Lakhs Ex-showroom for the base variant. Meanwhile, the range ends at the range-topping GT X-Line variant at Rs. 14.89 Lakhs Ex-showroom. Kia has updated the Sonet to meet the latest norms and keep up its rivalry with Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra Xuv300, and Tata Nexon.
