Kia Seltos CVT Units Recalled in India

In a significant development, Kia Motors India has voluntarily recalled 4,358 units of its popular SUV, the Kia Seltos. The recall is specific to the Seltos models equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and manufactured between February 28 and July 13, 2023.

Kia Seltos CVT: Reason for Recall

The recall was prompted by a potential error in the electronic oil pump controller. This issue may impact the performance of the electronic oil pump in the SUV’s CVT gearbox. The affected models are the 1.5-litre NA petrol Seltos with CVT transmission.

Kia Motors India has assured that it is proactively reaching out to customers and replacing the faulty parts in the affected models free of cost. The company has prioritized the safety and satisfaction of its customers and is committed to addressing this issue promptly and efficiently.

The Seltos, a midsize SUV, is available in seven variants and two more engine options. After a price revision in January, the SUV is now priced from Rs 10.90 lakh to Rs 20.30 lakh.

This is not the first time Kia Motors India has issued a recall. The company had previously issued recalls in November 2020, October 2022, and June 2023. The reasons for these recalls ranged from a fuel pump issue in the Seltos diesel to software issues in the Carens MPV.

Despite these recalls, the Seltos continues to be a popular choice among Indian consumers. The facelifted Seltos recently surpassed the one lakh booking milestone in the country. Launched back in July 2023, the SUV registers average monthly bookings of 13,500 units, out of which 80 per cent of the buyers opt for the top-spec variants.
