January 2010 Car sales report!

 

Tata Motors :

Tata Motors managed to sell 65,478 units of its Commercial and Passenger vehicles in January 2010 as compared to the 36,931 units sold last year – a growth of  77%.

Tata Motors managed to sell 22,707 units amongst the Tata Cars. This is a 47% growth as compared to last year’s sales and is the highest ever recorded for the firm. The firm managed to sell 4,001 units of its Nano, 11,448 units of the Indica range, 3,538 units of the Sumo and Safari and 7,258 units of the Indigo range.

A total sales and distribution off-take of 28,547 units (26,245 Tata + 2,302 Fiat) in the domestic market in January 2010 as compared to 19,911 units (18,331 Tata + 1,580 Fiat) in January last year was reported by Tata’s passenger vehicles business. This is a 43% growth and the highest ever recorded for the firm.

The firm exported 3,276 vehicles in January 2010 as compared to 1,227 vehicles in January 2009 – a growth of 167%.


Audi :

In January 2010, Audi witnessed a growth of 180.73% as compared to January last year. In January 2009, the firm sold 109 units which have now increased to 306 units in January 2010. In the year 2009, Audi sold a total of 1,658 units. However, the firm now aims at selling around 2,300 units this year.


General Motors India :

In the month of January 2010, General Motors India (GMI) managed to sell 9,421 units as compared to the 3,937 units sold in January 2009. The sales during January 2010 have been the highest ever recorded for the firm during its 13 year journey in India.

The firm managed to sell 3,477 units of the Spark, 2,825 units of the Beat, 1,512 units of the Tavera, 686 units of the Cruze 434 units of the Aveo U-VA, 364 units of the Aveo and 51 units each of the Optra and Captiva during January 2010.


Hyundai :

With a 41.6% growth in sales, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) sold 52,635 units this January as compared to 37,171 units in January 2009. The firm managed to sell 47,104 units in the A2 segment which includes Santro, Getz Prime, i10 and i20. 5,502 units in the A3 segment including Accent and Verna was sold in January this year. The firm also managed to sell 29 units in the A5 segment which includes Sonata Transform. However, the firm failed to sell even a single unit of the Tucson SUV during the month.

The firm had exported 16,155 units last year. This figure has increased to 23,034 units in January, this year.


Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) :

Mahindra & Mahindra’s sales have increased by 67.4% during the month of January 2010. The firm sold 28,988 units during January this year as compared to 17,320 units sold last year.


Honda Siel :

In January 2010, Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) observed a rise of sale by 3.64% and sold a total of 5,983 units as compared to last year’s 5,773 units. The firm managed to sell 4,485 units of the City, 644 units of the Civic, 490 units of the Jazz, 288 units of the Accord and 76 units of the CR-V during January 2010.


Maruti Suzuki :

In the month of January this year, Maruti Suzuki managed to sell a total of 95,649 units which amounts to an increase of 33.3% as compared to the 71,779 units sold in January last year. The firm exported 14,562 units in January 2010 as compared to the 4,774 units exported last year.

The firm sold 58,540 units in the A2 segment as compared to last year’s 46,899 units, which consists of Alto, Wagon R, Zen, A-Star, Swift and Ritz. In the A3 segment which includes Dzire and SX4, the firm sold 8,995 units.
