Segregated in 5 different segments, the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2014 India Awards have finally been announced. Starting with their dependability study, which finds four discontinued models that consumers still put their faith in, the Hyundai Santro comes out as the best compact car. Following in the segment above that, the Nissan Micra takes the top spot in the upper compact segment, whereas, a vehicle which made the manufacturer lose money on every car they sold in India, the Skoda Fabia has emerged to be the most dependable premium compact car.

With an added boot, the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire has been rated as the most dependable entry-level midsize car, while the out of production Maruti SX4 takes the cake in the midsize segment. A segment above, the popular, but now obsolete in India Honda Civic has been rated as the most dependable premium midsize car. In an unsurprising manner, the Toyota Innova and Fortuner have been rated to be most reliable in the respective segments.

Brand wise, in J.D. power’s India sales satisfaction index study, Toyota has come out on top, while BMW takes the trophy in the luxury segment. However, in their consumer satisfaction study, Maruti Suzuki and Mercedes-Benz have managed to replace the big ‘T’ and the Munich based manufacturer.

In their initial quality study, the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and the Swift have come out trumps in the entry-level and premium compact car segment, the Hyundai i10 taking top honors in the compact car segment. The Honda Brio earned itself the best upper compact car award in initial quality. In the entry-level midsize segment, the Hyundai Xcent took the gold, the Skoda Rapid taking the yellow metal home in the segment above. The Toyota Innova once again dominated the MPV segment, while the Ford Ecosport took the prize in the SUV group.

In the APEAL study that rates products on their performance, execution and layout, the Hyundai Eon and the i10 take top spot, followed by the Honda Brio in the upper compact segment. The Honda City and the Swift Dzire replace the Skoda Rapid and the Hyundai Xcent in their respective midsize segments here, while the VW Polo took the rose in the premium compact car segment. The Toyota Innova reigns in this study too, whereas, the Nissan Terrano came out on top in the SUV segment.
