Hearing the word ‘sporty’ and ‘Hyundai’ in one sentence is certainly not something that you hear often. Hyundai has not been known for having cars that cater to enthusiasts whether it’s in India or globally. However, with the recent introduction of the performance N Line cars in their global lineup, Hyundai is taking up the fight with one of the best enthusiasts cars out there. The good news is that Hyundai India is finally bringing its N Line brand to India to give us a taste of their fun to drive cars.
Hyundai India N Line lineup
Hyundai India won’t bring its full-blown N Line to India for the time being. Cars like the i30 N, Elantra N and Kona N will be expensive to bring and they won’t be able to cater to the enthusiasts on a budget. The first N Line car to launch here will be the i20 N Line. It will feature a turbocharged 1 Litre 3-cylinder petrol engine which produces 118 hp and 172 nm of torque.
The i20 N will carry significant changes over the standard model to distinguish them. The exterior will carry aggressive styling such as sporty front and rear bumpers. The rear will feature a diffusor with chrome dual-tip exhausts. The front grille will also feature an N Line badge. The wheels are expected to be 17-inch alloys with a sporty design as opposed to the standard 16 inchers. Expect other details such as blacked-out roof, ORVMS and C pillars.
The interiors will more or less remain the same. It will receive some sporty trims and contrasting red colour on the vents and the stitching pattern. The i20 N line will also be tuned for a more fun driving experience. The suspension, steering and engine are expected to be tuned in line with the car’s sporty credentials. The i20 N Line will go on sale this year and it will carry a premium over the standard i20 1.0 Litre turbo. When launched, the i20 N Line will go up against the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI.
