Unveiling the Hydrogen Fuel Cell bus,  the Union Minister talked about the ‘Hydrogen Vision’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which promotes the ‘Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) India’ in clean energy, It also aims at achieving the climate change goals and creating more employment in the sector. This Hydrogen Fuel Cell bus which is developed with the support of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) can be a start of a new era in the heavy vehicle industry.

The Hydrogen cell present in the bus utilizes hydrogen and air and generates electricity to power the bus. Ultimately the only effluent of the bus is water which makes it the most environment-friendly transport. The Union minister also pointed out that fact. Comparing the hydrogen cell bus to the diesel bus running on a long-distance route, one diesel bus emits 100 tons of CO2 a year. The minister also mentioned that the operational cost of the Hydrogen fuel cell bus is much lower than a regular Diesel bus and it could bring a freight revolution to the country.

The Union Minister, Jitendra Singh also mentioned some other facts promoting the Hydrogen fuel bus and the Prime Minister’s ‘Green Hydrogen Mission’ such as “ About 12-14% of CO2 emission comes from diesel-powered heavy vehicles. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles provide excellent means to eliminate on-road emissions in this sector” The Union Minister has also shared a Video of the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus on Twitter providing insights into the event.
