Matter, a technology startup, introduced India’s first geared electric motorbike today, pushing India’s 15 million motorbike market toward a beautiful future supported by next-generation technology.
The motorbike has been created and engineered in-house from the ground up for trails and roadways, with a consumer-centric product development approach focusing on safety, security, reliability, and performance. The vehicle will be constructed in Ahmedabad and distributed throughout India’s major cities.
Powertrain & Battery
The matterEnergy 1.0, an integrated, high-energy density 5 kWh Power Pack, powers the motorcycle. The Power Pack is an integrated device that holds the Battery pack, the Battery Management System (BMS), the Drive Train Unit (DTU), power conversion modules, and other protection systems. It was built in-house with Indian environmental and usage circumstances in mind.
The pack incorporates several patented technologies, including the Integrated Intelligent Thermal Management System (IITMS), which employs revolutionary active liquid cooling technology to ensure the optimum performance of all pack constituents, making it India’s first liquid-cooled electric two-wheeler battery pack. The pack’s ultra-smart BMS constantly analyses and optimizes the system for efficiency, security, and dependability.
The 10.5kW electric motor, along with the patented sequential manual transmission, broadens the drivetrain’s performance range and provides unrivaled power delivery, flat torque, and efficiency. Even while the vehicle is stationary, the revolutionary liquid cooling technology that simultaneously cools the rotor and stator allows for faster heat extraction from the electric motor.
Tech & Features
The motorcycle offers both normal and fast charging via a single plug. The vehicle is outfitted with a standard onboard 1kW Intelligent Charger, matterCharge 1.0, which allows the vehicle to be charged at any 5A, 3-pin plug outlet. The onboard charger charges the vehicle in less than 5 hours and includes overcharge protection. The bi-functional LED projector headlight split LED tail lamps, body-integrated front turn signals, a translucent shroud, and an exposed spinner coupled to the motor are all captivating features that represent Matter’s motorbike’s futuristic design language. The bike also includes useful utilitarian features like a storage room with built-in lights and a smart mobile charging outlet.
The motorcycle is designed to be constantly connected to the rider. The touch-enabled 7-inch Vehicle Instrument Cluster (VIC), powered by a cutting-edge processor, 4G connectivity, and Android software, runs the intuitive user interface (UI) that provides the rider with all the information they need: speed, gear position, riding mode, navigation, media, call control, and other smart features never seen before in a motorcycle. The connected mobile application integrates vehicle controls such as remote lock/unlock, geofencing, live location tracking, and vehicle health monitoring, and provides the rider with personalized ride statistics, charging status, push navigation, and much more. A proximity-based key fob and passive keyless entry system enable the rider to lock and unlock the vehicle simply by approaching it.
