Indian Navy and Mahindra to Conduct Coastal Rally

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has recently highlighted the important role of maritime trade in boosting the economy of our nation. The Indian Navy also plays an important role in safeguarding our maritime trade. In order to promote awareness of the maritime environment, the Indian Navy is organizing the coastal motor car rally titled “SAM NO VARUNAH”.

Date of commencement of this rally

The Indian Navy has collaborated with the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association (NWWA) in order to conduct this car rally. The “SAM NO VARUNAH” car rally will start on 26 March 2023. This collaboration aims to provide comprehensive support and resources for the smooth operation of this rally. Both organizations are consistently working to ensure the success of this rally.

Objectives of this rally

There are numerous distinct objectives of this rally to be achieved. Firstly, it aims to celebrate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav which is an important milestone for India. They will also conduct awareness drives to highlight the various career opportunities available in the Navy. Additionally, the participation of serving women officers and naval wives will showcase the strength of “Naari Shakti.” This rally will inspire and motivate the younger generation to join the Indian Navy.

Furthermore, the expedition will provide a platform to interact with Naval Veterans and Veer Naris en route. This interaction will help to recognize and honor their precious contributions to the nation. The expedition also aims to spread awareness about the rich maritime heritage of India. It will be achieved by covering various Ports, Forts, Lighthouses, Heritage Villages, and Beaches. This will assist in reviving the maritime history of India.

Schedule and Distance to be covered

The “SAM NO VARUNAH” coastal motor car rally has a well-planned schedule. And this rally will cover various cities, villages, and places of maritime importance along the Indian coastline. The rally will be flagged off from INS Netaji Subhas in Kolkata on 26 Mar 2023 and will be finished at Lakhpat Gujarat on 19 Apr 2023. In this rally, the passed-out first Agni Veers will also get a chance to participate. The first Agni veers of the Indian Navy can participate at INS Chilka on 28 Mar 2023.

Partners and Other Activities of this rally

This rally has also aimed to create awareness about the employment opportunities available in the Navy. This awareness will be raised by conducting campaigns in different cities and villages en route. Moreover, this rally will cover community outreach activities at old age homes, orphanages, and schools for special children. This expedition will also focus on environmental conservation by undertaking coastal cleaning at various beaches.

The Indian Navy has partnered with the leading SUV maker in India, Mahindra. Mahindra will provide a fleet of 12 vehicles. The fuel partners of this rally are Mastercard India and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. This expedition will be covering over 7500 km in 25 days.
