Maruti Suzuki will launch the Ignis compact crossover on January 13, 2017. Now, ahead of its launch, the Company had organized an interaction for motoring journalists where an India-spec Ignis was displayed. The Ignis, according to the car maker, is India’s first premium urban compact vehicle aimed at the millennials (people born in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s).
On the outside, the Ignis features a projector headlamp setup with integrated U-shaped DRLs, fog lamps with chrome inserts, clamshell bonnet, blacked out A-pillar and B-pillar, contrast black roof, as well as gloss black alloy wheels. The interior receives a dual tone floating dashboard (Black and Ivory), faux carbon fibre inserts and a free standing touchscreen system. This touchscreen system is known as Smartphone Linkage Display Audio (SLDA) and features Apple CarPlay as well as Android Auto. Also on offer would be personalization options that would include roof wraps and the likes.

Engine options would include a 1.2-litre petrol engine as well as a 1.3-litre diesel engine. Transmission duties would be taken care of by a five speed manual transmission as standard while an Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission would also be available as an option on both the engines. Safety features such as dual airbags and ABS with EBD will be available as a standard feature across the variants. Also on offer would be ISOFIX seats, a child restraint system, and pedestrian safety.
The Ignis would be sold through Maruti Suzuki’s chain of premium dealership, the Nexa. Bookings for the sub-compact crossover would begin on January 1, 2017 followed by the launch that is scheduled to take place on January 13, 2017. Once launched in India, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis will rival the likes of the Mahindra KUV100. The model would be manufactured at the Company’s facility in Gurugram. Stay tuned for more updates!
