That the new 2014 Toyota Corolla India launch is around the corner is a well known fact. The new gen Corolla made its India debut back at the 2014 Auto Expo in early February this year (CLICK HERE for our report on 2014 Toyota Corolla India debut). It is highly likely that the 2014 Toyota Corolla India launch date will fall on May 27 and various details of the upcoming model have now leaked ahead of its official launch. Much like the car it will replace, the new gen Corolla will go on sale in both diesel and petrol variants and will be available with the same set of engines that power the current model, which means that while the petrol Corolla get the 1.8-liter four pot motor with a max power of 140 PS at 6,400 rpm, the diesel variant gets a 1.4 litre oil burner with just 89 PS of peak power. Transmission variants for the petrol include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox, while the diesel gets to do with only a manual ‘box.
The petrol variant will go on sale in five trim levels: J, G, G CVT, GL and VL. The new Corolla will get rear reclining seat, brake assist, rear foglight and a rear power socket as standard across the trim line. The VL trim level also gets automatic wipers, LED headlights, 7-inch multimedia system with integrated navigation, 16-inch alloy wheels and reverse camera.
The diesel Corolla will go on sale in four trim levels – J, J(S), G and GL.
