German car maker, BMW is all set to release it high performance M4 coupe for the Indian car market. The car made its official debut at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show. Now, the teaser images of the M4 coupe were released on BMW India’s social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter.
The M4 coupe is rumoured to be followed by the more high performance version, the M5, by the end of this year. Earlier this year, BMW introduced the M6 Gran Coupe for the Indian car market.
President of BMW India, Philipp Von Sahr, had earlier expressed that the company plans to bring the ‘M’ Series models in India by 2014.
In terms of power, the BMW M4 coupe dons a 3-litre six-cylinder twin-turbo engine that produces 431 bhp of power and 550Nm of torque. The power can be mated to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed automatic transmission. With the automatic configuration, the M4 coupe hits the ton mark from a standstill in 4.1 seconds while the manual does the same in 4.3 seconds. The top speed on the M4 coupe is electronically limited to 250 kph.
Drive shaft, roof, roof bow, trunk, and front strut brace are made out of carbon fibre reinforced plastic. The M4 coupe will be the first vehicle from the M family to have an electric power steering unit. The steering system will be specifically tuned for the M3 and M4.
