Hyundai Motor India concludes its 9th National Skill Olympics for dealer technicians

Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) concluded their 9th National Skill Olympics fest yesterday at the manufacturing plant in Sriperumbudur near Chennai. This inter-dealership competition identifies skill and honours the best talents among dealer technicians on a nationwide level.

Hyundai conducts a series of training programmes every year to upgrade and refresh the skills of technicians and familiarize them with the technological developments. The competition helps them test their knowledge and induces a competitive spirit among them.

According to the brand, 1100 service workshops and 5102 technicians participated in this skill fest this year. The contest began on August 23, 2016, at Hyundai dealerships across India, followed by state level competitions in September 2016 and zonal level competitions in October 2016. Of the 5102 participants, 18 zonal champions qualified for the finale of the fest held at Chennai. The participants were tested for their ability to spot technical simulated problems in the car & component and resolve them to meet international standards. This skill fest also evaluated the technician’s adaptability to the concept of digital service namely workshop automation thereby depicting the company’s experience and ensuring customer satisfaction. The contest consisted of multiple rounds of practical and written tests.

Yasin Shaikh Umar from Singh Hyundai, Pune (1st), Pradip Kumar Saha from Mukesh Hyundai, Kolkata (2nd) and Rampadarth Chaudhary from Samara Hyundai, New Delhi (3rd) were declared the top 3 winners of the fest. Apart from this, three other runners up were also declared who were awarded with cash prizes, certificates and trophies. This year, Hyundai Motor India introduced sectional awards for the technician category.
