Hyundai Grand i10 sedan, Accent replacement, in pipeline

Regulars here would remember that we reported in detail when it emerged that Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), India’s second largest selling car maker, has pulled the plug on the Accent C segment sedan. The discontinuation of the Accent has left quite a void in the car maker’s product portfolio and need of the hour is a small, budget end sedan that could give some sleepless nights to the makers of the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and the Honda Amaze. It is being said that Hyundai’s Indian subsidiary does realize this and is working on a new entry level sedan that would be based on the newly introduced Grand i10. It is being said that the prototypes of the Grand i10 sedan would soon commence testing on public roads.

As must be obvious to you, the new Hyundai Grand i10 sedan would measure little less than 4-meters in length and would be built on the same BA platform that underpins the new 2014 i10 and the Grand i10. Engine options too are likely to be carried over from the Grand i10 hatchback. While the petrol variant is sure to be powered by the 1.2-liter Kappa2 engine, the top end diesel variants could get the option of i20′s 1.4 litre CRDI diesel engine.

The car will look much like the new Grand i10 and could also get some design cues from HB20S, especially for its rear end. The HB20S is a Brazil-exclusive compact sedan and is highly based on the i20 hatchback that we have on sale in our country.

Stay tuned to Motoroids for more updates on the upcoming Hyundai Grand i10 compact sedan.
