Hyundai is one of the leading carmakers in the Indian market. The brand is on the verge of introducing a new compact SUV in the market soon. Now, the carmaker has revealed the interior of their upcoming SUV, the Exter.

Hyundai commenced the bookings of the Exter last month at a token amount of Rs. 11,000. The brand has slated the launch of the Exter on 10th July 2023.

Hyundai has officially unveiled the interior of the Exter. It features an all-black theme with green accents on the circular AC vents which looks funky and unique. While the layout of the interior is similar to its siblings like the Grand i10 Nios and Aura. The new Exter features a neatly laid out dashboard with a multifunctional steering wheel with tilt adjustment, an 8-inch infotainment system, etc. The dashboard comprises a beautifully designed panel that emerges the infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster.

The doors have switchgear on the driver’s side and power window control on the passenger side. While the brand has provided the bottle holder and utility spaces on both the front doors. The switchgear allows the driver to adjust the power windows and ORVMs as per ergonomics. The central console consists of AC controls, a mobile phone holder, and a leather-wrapped chrome gear knob. At the rear, the doors are equipped with power window switches and utility spaces like bottle holders. Moreover, the rear AC vents are provided for enhanced comfort for the users and the seats have exter embossed headrests.

The headrests of the seats boast the EXTER embossing.

Features of Hyundai Exter

Hyundai has brimmed the Exter with a plethora of new features and some of them will be the first in the segment. The Exter will get first-in-segment features like an electric sunroof and Dashcam with twin cameras at the front and rear. The carmaker has added voice commands in Exter along with the sounds of nature. Hyundai offers an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting BlueLink, Apple Carplay, Android Auto, etc. like features for the convenience of users. And the digital instrument cluster has a 4.2-inch MID display showing various vehicle info like vehicle stats, sunroof open, door open, etc.

Hyundai has equipped the Exter with BlueLink-connected car technology. With this technology, users can access over 60+ advanced features for safety & security, remote services, location-based services, vehicle diagnostics, and voice assistance. The carmaker has added voice commands in Exter, which can control the sunroof by saying “Open Sunroof” or “I want to see the sky”. Moreover, the Exter also gets the Dashcam with Dual Camera that boasts of front & rear Camera. The video recording of the dashcam can be controlled from smartphone app-based connectivity and has Multiple Recording Modes.

Hyundai Exter: Design and Aesthetics

The upcoming Hyundai Exter boasts a bold and distinctive exterior profile to stand out from the crowd. Upfront, the Exter features a parametric grille, split headlights with H-shaped DRLs, and bumpers with skid plates. The front bumper has squared housing projector headlights. However, the upcoming Exter sits on 15-inch funky alloys and has character lines on the side profile.

The rear profile of the Exter features an H-shaped signature LED taillights resembling the front DRLs. However, the Exter gets a flat tailgate that has a similar design as some 3-rowed MPVs. Furthermore, the height of the SUV is accentuated by the roof rails, giving it a rugged stance somehow.

Powertrain, Pricing, Variants, and the Competition

The upcoming Hyundai Exter is expected to be offered in 2 engine variants. The 1.2L Kappa series VTVT petrol engine produces 82 hp and 115 Nm of output. This engine will be mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a convenient AMT transmission. The carmaker will offer the CNG version of the Exter as well.

Hyundai will offer the Exter in 5 different variants namely the E, S, SX, SX (o) and SX (o) connect. The Hyundai will retail the Exter in an expected price range of Rs. 6 Lakhs to 11 Lakhs Ex-showroom. After the launch, the Hyundai Exter face competition from Maruti Fronx, Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger.
