Honda aims to sell 50,000 units of Amaze in this fiscal

The Honda Amaze has surely taken the lower C segment of fast developing Indian car market by storm. The Amaze, which is not just the cheapest sedan in Honda Cars India’s line up but is also the first and only diesel car from the Indian subsidiary of Japanese auto giant, was recently launched and has already generated a great response from the prospective buyers of the entry level mid-size sedan.

Powering the diesel variant of the Honda Amaze is a 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel engine that has a max power output of 100PS and a peak torque figure of 200Nm. This engine has a claimed fuel economy of 25.8 kmpl and this makes the car most fuel efficient in the country.

It has now emerged that the Japanese auto major aims to sell at least 50,000 units of the Amaze sedan in the current fiscal. The auto maker also plans to launch five new models in India over the next three years.

Honda Cars India Ltd will manufacture 4,000-5,000 units of Amaze per month due to limited current production capacity.

Senior Vice-President (Sales & Marketing) Jnaneswar Sen said,”Our current plan is to make 4,000-5,000 cars (Amaze) a month. Our capacity is 1.2 lakh units which include all our models. What’s available for this model is 4,000-5,000 units a month,” Sen said, adding: “We are limited by capacity as of now”.

HCIL has also announced that it would invest Rs 2,500 crore to double its capacity to 2.4 lakh units in India by the first half of next financial year. Sen also said that 63 per cent of the total Amaze sales are expected to come from Tier-II, Tier-III and upcountry markets.
