About Hero MotoCorp and Zero Electric Collaboration

Hero MotoCorp has announced its collaboration with Zero Electric for launching premium electric motorcycles. For this partnership, Hero MotoCorp made an investment of $60 billion in Zero Motorcycles last year.

In this partnership, Hero will combine its expertise with Zero Electric for developing powertrains and electric motorcycles.

Meanwhile, this collaboration represents that Hero might sell Zero Motorcycles in India via its wide dealership network. The manufacturing of the Zero Electric Motorcycles will be done locally.

Upcoming Zero Electric Motorcycles in India

Hero MotoCorp will launch the American brand in India under this partnership. Moreover, the lineup of Zero Electric includes options for Street and Dual-Sport motorcycles.

The direct importing route (CBU) can make the decision easier. However, the local manufacturing of bikes will give better results to the company in the long term.

One of the best examples of Zero Motorcycles is the Zero SR/S. It gets the 17.3kWh battery pack which produces 110hp of power and 190nm of torque. This results in a riding range of 300 km and max. top speed of 200km/h. However, the sustainable top speed of this bike is 177km/h.

Battery Capacity and Pricing

Meanwhile, the Zero Motorcycles have battery capacities ranging from 7.2 kWh to 17.3 kWh. It is priced at $13,000 to $25,000 which turns out to be Rs. 10.64 Lakhs to 20.46 Lakhs. Let’s see what strategies will Hero implement for getting a lower price point in the Indian market.
