Hero Motocorp sells 5.29 lakh two-wheelers in October 2012, including 50K scooters

Hero MotoCorp Ltd, today reported a dispatch of 5,29,215 units of two-wheelers in October 2012. In the corresponding month the previous year, the company had sold 512,238 units. Interestingly, the company sold over 3.50 lakh units of two-wheelers in the first 15 days of the festive period – starting from the first day of Navratra (Oct 16th onwards).

Already the second-largest player in the scooters segment since September this year, Hero MotoCorp also recorded its highest-ever scooter sales for any month by crossing the threshold 50,000 units in October.

The new 110cc scooter – Hero Maestro – has been a block-buster and together with the 100cc scooter Pleasure, HMCL has now started clocking an average of close to 50,000 units per month. Encouraged by the success of its scooters, HMCL has already scaled up its scooter production to over 60,000 units a month to meet the overwhelming customer demand.

Mr. Anil Dua, Sr. Vice-President (Marketing & Sales), Hero MotoCorp Ltd said, “Our October story is about touching new milestones – highest-ever October sales, over half-a-lakh of scooter sales and retail of over 3.50 lakh units of two-wheelers in just 15 days of the festival period. The entire range of our new Hero-branded models, including the new launches – Maestro and Ignitor – has been lapped up by our customers, which is reflected in these numbers.
