A test mule of the upcoming 2016 Toyota Fortuner has been spotted yet again, this time giving a clear look of the front fascia of the SUV. Toyota is likely to equip the next generation models of the Innova, Fortuner and Hilux with the newly developed Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). The car maker is also expected to continue with a new ladder frame chassis which would be lighter and stiffer than the outgoing version.

In terms of looks, as seen in the image reported by Headlight Magazine, the headlights are designed to give a sharper look to the front of the car while a set of projectors would jewel up the entire setup. The 2016 model will receive a twin slat chrome grill, instead of a three slat setup in 2014 models, with Toyota logo sitting right at the middle. The front bumper has also been redesigned and the fog lamps are now surrounded by chrome borders. The wheels also appear to have have been slightly redesigned. We expect Toyota to load the upcoming 2016 Fortuner with engine options but it’s too early to pin point on the power plant.

The South East Asian markets is likely to receive this model year update in 2015 itself but the Indian audience may have to wait till 2016 to lay their hands on the new Toyota Fortuner. Once launched, the new 2016 Toyota Fortuner will lock horns with the Hyundai Santa Fe, the new Ford Endeavour, and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. Expect the prices to hover around 20-25 lakh INR(ex-showroom) range.
