It has hardly been much time since the much publicized Ford EcoSport compact crossover has been on sale in the country. The EcoSport, which is a direct rival of the Renault Duster, made a lot of news for its very attractive price tag, engine options and a long features list.
The Ford EcoSport has been launched in India in as many as three engine variants. The entry level engine option is that of the 1.5 litre normally aspirated petrol engine. This is the same engine that powers the Fiesta sedan. The second petrol engine on offer is the much hyped 1.0 litre EcoBoost variant, which becomes the flagship engine variant of the EcoSport.
The third engine variant and the one which will bring the maximum number of sales will be powered by a 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine that can also be found powering the Fiesta sedan. It has now emerged that the diesel EcoSport has been recalledrelocate the glow plug module in the car.
Ford India has issue a statement which read- “As a part of routine checks, we discovered a potential concern with EcoSport diesel variants related to the glow plug module which requires relocating the module. We are contacting customers to take their vehicle to their Ford dealership to have the work carried out.”
All the owners of Ford EcoSport diesel are hence requested to rush to the authorized dealerships and get the issue sorted out. The cost of the check up and the required work will be borne by Ford India.
Prices of the EcoSport diesel start at INR 6.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the reports suggest that already over 20,000 cars have been booked.
