Fiat plans to launch Italian luxury car brand Maserati in India

Spotting a supercar in India is going to be easier as more and more luxury car manufacturers are making their way into the Indian car market. The latest company which is expected to hit the Indian shore is Italian luxury brand Maserati. Fiat, which owns the luxury brands like Ferrari, Alfo Romeo and Maserati is willing to improve its market share in the Indian automobile industry. The company already retails its Ferrari brand in India.

A person close to the recent developments from automotive company, Fiat, told Economic Times that a team from the Italian manufacturer recently visited India to meet potential dealers.

The company, however, refused from giving any detailed information on this front. Nagesh Basavanhalli, president and managing director at Fiat Chrysler India, told ET, “We are under lots of discussions for bringing exciting stuff from our international portfolio, though we are yet to freeze our plans.”

Industry experts say that Fiat will introduce Maserati’s Quattroporte, Gran Turismo coupe, Ghibli sedan and GranCabrio convertible at a price tag of Rs 1.5-3 crore.
