Fiat Group Automobiles India Private Limited (FGAIPL), the fully owned subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, will be launching the Abarth 500 in the month of October or November this year. The 500 Abarth was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014 last month.
The company recently showcased the 500 Abarth at Fiat outlets all over the country for customers and car enthusiasts. After launching the new Linea earlier this month, Fiat will be launching the Punto facelift, the Avventura and the 500 Abarth this year. Fiat India plans to have 5 cars in their line-up by this year end.
Talking about the 500 Abarth, Mr. Nagesh Basavanhalli, President and Managing Director, FIAT Chrysler Automobiles India Operations, said, “Abarth 500 is an iconic car known for its racing performance and the flagship car of the Abarth brand worldwide. We have received positive reviews at the Delhi Auto Expo for our product line up in 2014.”
Powering the Fiat 500 Abarth is a 1.4-liter, turbocharged, 4 pot petrol engine. This engine is available in either 137 PS or 163 PS states of tune. The Abarth brand will make an entry in India with Abarth 500. The brand stands for the ultimate in high-performance Italian cars. The car is loaded with an array of features which will make driving a superior experience. Fiat is also planning to locally assemble an Abarth product next year, which will, most likely be the Punto Abarth.
