Light commercial vehicles (LCV) and Medium & Heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCV) manufacturer Ashok Leyland, has posted 36% year-on-year (YOY) rise in sales for February 2015. The Hinduja Group owned vehicle manufacturer sold a total of 10,762 units, as compared to 7,915 units the same time in the previous year.
The Ashok Leyland Dost is rated to carry 1.25 tonnes of payload.
Light commercial vehicles made by the company such as the Dost, saw their sales performance going up by 8% YOY. Ashok Leyland sold 2,532 units of their LCVs this February, as compared to the previous year’s 2,339 units over the same month. Ashok Leyland’s Dost LCV, directly competes with Tata’s Ace and other similar offerings from various manufacturers. The Dost is available in five different forms;  a version with a refrigerated container to carry perishable goods, a version with a closed steel container, an ambulance variant etc.
The MiTR is a popular medium-sized bus by Ashok Leyland.
Heavy & Medium Commercial Vehicles’ sales also saw a boost in February. The company posted a growth in sales of 48% and that equals a total sales of 8,230 units. That is significantly higher than the sales in the same month last year, which was 5,576 units. The total units (including LCVs and H&MCVs) sold between the fiscal of April 2014 – February 2015 is 92,148, compared to 79,056 in the previous fiscal.
