Drunk woman in Audi hits taxi Mumbai

Drunk driving case: Janhavi Gadkar’s license revoked for life

Janhvi-Gadkar Audi crash

The Wadala RTO revoked the license of Janhavi Gadkar, the corporate lawyer accused of killing two people after ramming her Audi Q3 into a taxi in June last year. Janhavi failed to show up for two different date appeals and hence the RTO terminated her license for life after terming her as a ‘dangerous and a reckless’ driver.

Janhavi was driving her Audi Q3 under the influence of alcohol when she entered the wrong side of the Eastern Freeway in Mumbai and ended up in a head on collision with a taxi. This accident killed the driver of the vehicle on the spot while one of the occupants succumbed to his injuries later.

The other passengers in the car also suffered serious injuries. The accused, who couldn’t even stand on her own legs reportedly offered money to the victims and even went to the extent of requesting the on-lookers not to call the cops.

However, she was later taken into custody and produced in the local court soon after. The court approved her bail after a surety of Rs. 30,000 after she spent 58 days in jail. The RTO officials said that the license termination order was passed by the concerned RTO earlier as well but was sent back by the Appellate Authority for reconsideration. Following the appeal, Janhavi was summoned on two occasions but she failed to turn up both the times.
