Datsun, the sister company of Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan had teased the redi-Go earlier this year in April. The hatchback made its world debut in the same month while the launch was slated to take place later. Fast forward to May and our correspondent Ayan Ghosh was in the city of Kolkata reviewing the redi-Go.

Now, the company is all set to launch the redi-Go hatchback in India on the 7th of June. The third product from Datsun, the model is likely to change the fortune of the company whose previous models haven’t garnered sales as the brand expected it to. Bookings for the redi-Go were thrown open to the public on the 1st of May for a refundable amount of Rs. 5000. The model can also be booked through e-commerce website Snapdeal.
Propelling the redi-Go is the same 0.8 L 3 cylinder DOHC engine. This 799cc engine is capable of developing a power output of 54 PS at 5678 rpm while the peak torque of 72 Nm comes up at 4386 rpm. Transmission duties are performed by a 5 speed manual gearbox. The company claims a fuel economy of 25.17 kmpl.

Expect the redi-Go to arrive with a price tag in the range of Rs. 2.5 lakh-3.5 lakh (Ex-showroom). Once launched, the sibling to the Kwid will rival the likes of the Hyundai Eon and the Maruti Suzuki Alto.
