Datsun GO and GO+ now offer driver airbag on top-end T(O) variant in India

On the grounds of improving safety of the GO hatchback and GO+ MPV, Datsun is now offering the two models with a driver-side airbag. This safety tool is only available on the top-spec T(O) variant of the two cars. As with most budget hatchbacks sold in India, Datsun too had come under the boil for the lack of general occupant safety in their cars. However, with the inclusion of a driver’s airbag, the carmaker aims to improve the safety standing of the GO and GO+.

The single airbag aside, the T(O) variant comes with gear shift indicator, ‘Follow me’ headlights, speed-sensitive wiper, front power windows, central locking, integrated audio system with AUX-in and USB support, body-coloured front and rear bumpers and wheel hub caps. The addition of the airbag means that the T(O) variant of the Datsun GO and GO+ now cost Rs. 15,000 more than the T variant.

Datsun GO+side profile

Under the bonnet, the Datsun GO hatchback and GO+ MPV continue to use the same 1.2-litre 3-pot petrol engine as before. This engine comes mated to 5-speed manual transmission and makes 68 PS of power and 104 Nm of torque. The Datsun GO hatchback can make the 0-100 km/h run in just over 13 seconds, while returning an ARAI rated fuel economy figure of 20.6 km/l. The Datsun GO and GO+ T(O) variants are priced at INR 4.19 lakh and INR 4.81 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
