Buying a budget SUV often means choosing between price and features. Many customers end up missing out on useful equipment because it is available only in higher variants. Citroen has now tried to bridge that gap with a new version of the Basalt. The company has introduced the Basalt X Comfort Edition, which adds several premium features to lower variants without changing the overall package.
The new special edition has been launched as part of Citroen’s 108th anniversary celebrations. Prices start from Rs 8.75 lakh (ex showroom), which is Rs 20,000 more than the standard Basalt You variant.

What does the Comfort Edition get?
The biggest change is the addition of the Comfort AXS Pack, which is now available with the You and Plus variants.
It brings several extra features such as:
- Beige leatherette seat upholstery
- 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- JBL sound system
- Wireless phone charger
- Rear view parking camera
- Dual channel dashcam
- Power folding and power adjustable ORVMs
- One touch auto up and down function for all four windows
- Proximity keyless entry
- Push button start
- Ambient lighting
- Auto climate control
- Reclining rear seats with winged cushions
- 470 litre boot space
These additions make the lower variants feel much better equipped than before.
Engine options stay the same
Citroen has not made any mechanical changes to the Basalt. Buyers can continue to choose between two petrol engines.
The 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine develops 82 bhp and 115 Nm. It is paired with a 5 speed manual gearbox.
Higher variants get the 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine, which produces 110 bhp and up to 205 Nm of torque. This engine is available with either a 6 speed manual or a 6 speed automatic gearbox.

Kumar Priyesh, Business Head and Director Automotive Brands at Stellantis India, said the Basalt X Comfort Edition has been introduced to make premium comfort features available to more customers. He added that the new package combines factory fitted upgrades with convenience and technology features to deliver better value.
