A camouflaged Chevrolet Spin MPV has been spied in India by keen eyed reader Akbar Basha. When launched in early 2017, it will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Honda Mobilio, and the Renault Lodgy. The 7-seater Chevrolet Spin measures 4,360mm in length, 1,735mm in width and 1,683mm in height. The MPV has a ground clearance of around 157 mm, along with a kerb weight varies from 1213 kgs – 1277 kgs; depending on the variant.

The Chevrolet Spin will be powered by a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder DOHC 16 valve dual VVTi petrol engine, good for 85 bhp at 5600 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. A larger 1.5-petrol litre engine could also be on the cards, developing 107 bhp at 6000 rpm and 142 Nm of torque at 3800 rpm. The engines will come paired to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The interiors, though contemporary, look a bit bare. Equipment wise, the Spin MPV will feature like a remote key, power windows all round, adjustable headrests on all 3 rows, 3 point retractable seat belts on all three rows (2pt for 2nd row centre seat), 60:40 split tumble second row seats and an Infotainment system with 4 speakers and Radio/Aux/USB/Bluetooth support.

Upon launch of the Spin, it is likely that Chevrolet could withdraw the Enjoy from service, though only time will tell. Unlike the Trailblazer, we suspect the Spin will make use of the American carmaker’s localisation attempts, thus keeping the costs in check.  The Spin range also includes a crossover-styled variant called the Spin Activ, on sale in Brazil. It gets an externally mounted spare wheel, skid plates, body cladding and roof rails along with new alloy wheels.
