What you see here in this picture is the Rocket 900, an S 65 made even crazier by the blokes at Brabus. The car makes its debut at the Dubai International Motor show. For the uninitiated, Brabus is a high-performance aftermarket tuning company specializing in the modification of Mercedes-Benz cars. Founded in 1977 by Klaus Brackman and Bodo Buschmann, Brabus is the largest Mercedes tuner after Mercedes-AMG.
Based on the Mercedes S 65, Brabus developed an exclusive Brabus Rocket 900 Desert Gold Edition for the motor show. The pimped high-performance luxury sedan comes with a ‘desert gold’ paintwork, a color created specifically for the sedan as an automotive homage to the desert state of Dubai. With a combination of carbon aerodynamic-enhancement components and high-gloss black bodywork components the car stands out with classy contrasts.
The golden theme not only wraps the car from the outside but also runs through the interior. A combination of gold and black leather and golden seams in a quilting pattern compose the interior of the car. The interior elements such as switches and bezels also receive an elaborate custom gold-coloured coating. The headliner of the sedan is made from deep black Alcantara.
The customizations are not just skin deep, the production powertrain has undergone modifications too. The 12-cylinder engine of the S 65 is revised in every detail in the Brabus engine shop. The installation of a custom crankshaft increases the displacement from 5.5 to 6.3 liters. The two production turbos are replaced with turbochargers that have a larger compressor unit and a larger turbine as well as a modified exhaust. The extensive work performed on the engine results in astonishing performance output with a peak power output of 900 hp produced at a low 5,500 rpm and maximum torque of 1,500 nm at 4,200 rpm. The performance of the Brabus Rocket 900 is on the level of full-blooded top tier sports cars. The luxury sedan does a 0-100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and a sprint to 200 km/h takes 9.1 seconds. This beast can manage to do a top speed of a whopping 350 km/h.
The Brabus Rocket 900 looks good in gold, and the specs are impressive too, but it is about time to see how good it really performs to impress!
