Tata Motors will commence bookings for its much-awaited and recently renamed compact hatchback, the Tiago from March 10, 2016, onwards. The Tiago is expected to be launched in India on March 28. The company has also launched an opportunity for all potential customers to meet the international sports icon, Lionel Messi, the global brand ambassador for the company’s Passenger Vehicle Business Unit.
Customers above 18 years of age can book a Tiago either online or at any of the Tata Motors’ authorized dealership with a payment of INR 10,000. The participating customer will be further requested for a response to the question ‘I love Tata TIAGO because…’ and basis the most creative response, the company will shortlist the first set of qualifiers. The final five winners, selected through a lucky draw, would be eligible to take any one person of their choice to visit Barcelona and meet Lionel Messi. The winning entries will be announced after 30 days from date of closure of the promotion period on www.tatatiago.com. Tata Motors will also roll-out a national BTL campaign in a phased manner, from March 15, 2016.
The Tiago, formerly known as the Zica, is based on a heavily reworked Indica platform. Power comes from two new engines – a 1.05-litre, three-cylinder turbo-diesel unit, and a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol unit; both strapped to 5-speed manual transmissions. The Tiago’s pert styling and upmarket interiors are all-new as well. Later in the day, the Zica will spawn a compact sedan (codename – Kite 5), which has already been showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Tiago, to be manufactured at Tata’s Sanand Plant, will go head to head with the Maruti Celerio, Wagon R, Renault Kwid and Hyundai i10.
