The Exterior of the BMW X5 facelift

In terms of the exterior, the German carmaker has made several tweaks to the design of the X5 facelift. Upfront, the new X5 facelift gets the new bumper, redesigned vertical intakes, and redesigned LED DRL signature. The 40i variant of X5 can be expected to get the new i7-inspired kidney grille. Meanwhile, the central air dam at the bumper is now wider in presence which enhances the airflow and dynamics.

The overall design of the side profile is similar to the outgoing version. Yet it is expected to get the new design of 21-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the carmaker has not significantly revised the design of the X5 facelift. However, the facelift version of X5 gets new LED taillights and the bumper gets the thicker skid plates.

The Interior of the BMW X5 facelift

Like the exterior, the new X5 facelift will get minor tweaks on the interior design. The main highlight of the X5 facelift will be the new 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This infotainment system will be part of the brand’s latest twin-screen display set-up seen on the newer BMW models.

The twin-screen display has brought a new design layout to the dashboard by minimizing physical controls. Meanwhile, the gear knob for drive select will be replaced by the toggle glass-like switch. And the carmaker will introduce the latest idrive 8.0 version in the infotainment system of the x5 facelift.

Powertrain Options

BMW X5 facelift will be powered by 2 engine options depending on the variant. Moreover, the x5 facelift will come with a mild-hybrid system with a 48V battery pack for petrol and diesel engines. The 40i variant will be powered by the 3.0L 6-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine mated to the hybrid system. This engine will produce 380hp of power and 520nm of torque output.

However, the 30d variant will be powered by the 3.0L 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine mated to the hybrid system. This engine will produce 286hp of power and 650nm of torque output. Meanwhile, the power will be channeled via the new 8-Speed Automatic Transmission and Xdrive AWD system.

Moreover, the electric motor will be mounted to the transmission for providing an additional boost of 12hp and 200nm. Unfortunately, the BMW X5 facelift will not be available with the powerful 4.4L twin-turbo v8 hybrid engine.

The Pricing and Competition

BMW will launch the new X5 facelift tomorrow in India. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 99 Lakhs to 1.1 Crores Ex-showroom. In FY’23, the BMW X5 received a tremendous growth of 57% in sales with 1,000 units.

However, these numbers are significantly less than its rival, the Mercedes-Benz GLE at 2,000 units. The BMW X5 facelift will continue to compete with Mercedes-Benz GLE, Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, Jaguar F-Pace, and Land Rover Range Rover Velar.
