The Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) has launched an initiative to enhance consumer awareness about vehicle safety in India. This initiative introduces QR code labels on vehicles tested under the Bharat NCAP protocols. These labels will provide consumers with direct access to safety ratings, reflecting the level of safety awarded to each car.
As vehicular safety becomes a growing concern among consumers, Bharat NCAP’s latest move aims to simplify obtaining safety information. By scanning the QR code, consumers will be directed to the Bharat NCAP website to access comprehensive details about crash test procedures and results. This innovation empowers buyers to make informed decisions based on the safety ratings of the vehicles they are considering.
The labels will display the Bharat NCAP logo, the manufacturer’s name, the vehicle model, the date of testing, and safety ratings for both child and adult occupants. These stickers will be issued to all OEMs for vehicles tested under the Bharat NCAP programme.
Currently, Bharat NCAP has tested four vehicles: the Tata Harrier, Tata Safari, Tata Nexon.ev, and Tata Punch.ev. The Harrier and Safari share identical safety ratings, as they are built on the same platform. Impressively, all four models have earned a 5-star rating in both adult and child safety categories, highlighting the high standards of safety engineering in these vehicles.
