BMW reveals 2014 Z4 facelift: Official images, specs and details

BMW have revealed their 2014 Z4 facelift. The changes to the new car primarily cosmetic and feature related with the Bavarian carmaker having left the engine-chassis combo untouched. There is, however a new variant, which will be the entry-level model for the car. The sDrive 18i, powered by a 2.0 liter gasoline engine, with a peak power output of 154bhp. Transmissions options are six-speed manual or eight-speed auto.

Other engines are intact. The 240-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo for the sDrive28i, a six cylinder 300 bhp mill (sDrive35is) and a 335bhp turbocharged six cylinder sDrive325i. The sDrive325i is available only with the seven-speed DCT dual-clutch transmission. However, the sDrive28i can be has with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic.

On the outside, the Z4 gets new 18”wheels, new LED headlights and some other minor tweaks. The car is available in three new colors.

The ConnectedDrive system on the roadster has also been updated. It now includes some really cool features such as Real Time Traffic Updates, BMW Online Portal, GPS Navigation, Internet based entertainment, internet radio and Automatic Collision Notification.

On the inside, the car now gets a special black and orange (Hyper Orange) theme, which has to be custom ordered. The standard Z4 sound system includes CD player, AUX-IN socket and 11 loudspeakers. Customers can also choose the optional Premium Sound System with higher output and 14 loudspeakers. Its gadgets galore in the cabin of the new Z4.

The car can also be ordered with an M Sport package, which includes Adaptive M suspension, 18-inch M light-alloy wheels and an M aerodynamics package with large air intakes in the front wing. Inside, the M package gets sports seats, an M leather steering wheel, M driver’s footrest, M door sill finishers and an anthracite-colored roof liner among other additions.

Slated to make its debut at the Detroit Motor Show, expect the new Z4 to replace its current model in India in early-mid 2013.
