BMW Motorrad India has a big celebration coming its way. The motorcycle division under the BMW wing registered an all-time high in sales within our country. The company reached the 5k unit mark in terms of sales, for the year 2021. BMW is world-renowned for its superbikes, and slowly our country is also catching up to speed with the other countries. The motorist culture is growing in India, and the increase in the purchasing capacity of the people provides the added benefit to manufacturers.
The fact that BMW Motorrad has achieved such great sales amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, makes this feat all the more sweet for the brand. BMW motorcycles reached a growth rate nearing 100 percent over the last year.
Major contribution by the G 310 twins
A major contribution to the sales was made by the ‘Made in India’, BMW G 310 R and the BMW G 310 RS. The sales of these two bikes summed up to 90 percent of the total sales of the brand. BMW had launched a plethora of bikes in 2021 like the C 400 GT, R 1250 GS, and R 1250 GS Adventure, T nine T and R nine T Scrambler, S 1000 R, the M 1000 RR, and the R 18 Classic. These new bikes also attracted a good buyer base but the stage was set for the G 310 twins.
BMW Group also said that BMW Financial Services India contributed a lot to make such success possible. This service by the brand offers vehicular loans at low-interest rates that can be repaid in up to 84 months. The group said, “The customized and flexible financial solutions were significantly valuable to the premium clientele of BMW Motorrad and helped tremendously in facilitating sales performance,”

President, BMW Group India, Vikram Pawah said, “Since its inception, BMW Motorrad has redefined the premium motorcycling scenario in India with its dynamic product range and bespoke riding experiences.” He added, “A phenomenal year for BMW Motorrad in India. Despite the turbulence in the two-wheeler industry, we have performed well and achieved exponential growth.”

In terms of future plans, Pawah said, “We will continue to cater to the requirements of the purists while also fulfilling aspirations of a new base of brand fans who want to enter the Motorrad world.”
