BMW 4 Series Coupe Caught Testing

Only a few moments ago, we reported that the BMW 4 Series Coupe concept will be unveiled at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show which will be held in January 2013. As we have earlier said, the new BMW 4 series will be the successor to the 3-series coupe. The upcoming car will have a sportier roofline and more flared fenders than the last gen 3 series coupe. Also, a neat retro touch will be the vents that will be placed behind the front wheels. It may be noted that the 4 series will be the baby 6 series and will battle it out against the Merc SLC and Audi A5 Sportsback.

It may be noted that the 6 Series is basically based on the 5 Series and BMW wants to appoint a similar strategy for its 3 series coupe by creating the 4 series brand name. The car will be a rear wheel drive and a four wheel drive package will be offered as an option. Powertrains are expected to be borrowed from the 3 series sedan and the M4 will be powered by a turbocharged straight-six producing around 450 bhp. The car should hit the dealerships at its home market in later half of 2013/early 2014
