The much discussed BMW 1 series, which BMW India would like to promote as the “Dynamic 1″, is merely hours away from being launched in our country. The BMW 1 Series India launch will happen today at 1230 hrs and stay glued in to Motoroids for all the LIVE action.
The pre-bookings for the car are already taking place and those interested can either pre-book by calling 1800 102 2269 or by visiting www.dynamic1.in. The first 100 bookings will be offered Complimentary BMW Service Inclusive Plus, which is a special customer centric service package.
The BMW 1 Series will go on sale in India with both petrol and diesel engine options. The India-spec BMW 1 Series diesel variant (118d) will be powered by the familiar 2.0-litre TwinPower turbocharged oil burner. This engine produces a max power of 143 bhp and peak torque of 320 Nm. The diesel engine has an ARAI certified fuel efficiency figure of 20.58 kmpl. The petrol variant, which will be called as the BMW 116i, is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter unit that has max power-torque of 136bhp-220Nm. This engine has a n AEAI tested FE of 16.28 kmpl.
The BMW 1 Series hatchback will come to us via Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route and will be assembled at BMW India’s Chennai assembly plant.
Worth mentioning is the fact that as of today, the legendary Bavarian luxury auto-maker is being outsold by both Mercedes and Audi in Indian car market. The BMW 1 Series is one of the cars with which BMW India plans to ward off the ever increasing competition. The 1 Series will rival the recently launched Mercedes A Class and could be potent enough to prevent the new Merc from getting to the top of new premium hatchback segment of Indian car market.
