While female politicians across the country were delivering speeches on the occasion of Women’s Day, one of them was busy riding her Harley Davidson to the Parliament for the day’s proceedings. Ranjeet Ranjan, an MP from the state of Bihar rode on her Harley Davidson Street Bob to the Parliament today.

Ranjeet, the wife of popular politician Rajesh Ranjan better known as Pappu Yadav, is an MP from the Supaul constituency in Bihar. The mother of two was seen travelling to the Parliament on her amber whiskey coloured Harley Davidson Street Bob wearing a helmet and sunglasses.

She went on to enter the parliament but was stopped for a brief period for frisking purposes before the speaker of the house, Sumitra Mahajan approved the entry for her vehicle. The reason for the high level security was due to the attack on the parliament that took place in the year 2001 and since then, every vehicle required a sticker to indicate the clearance it’s entry to the area.

The 42 year old, said that that at first she was reluctant to ride the bike due to the media attention but eventually agreed. The bike is reportedly bought from Ranjeet’s own earnings and no one has the permission to even touch the bike except for her husband, who has the occasional privilege of a pillion ride.

Powering the Street Bob is a 1585 cc air cooled petrol engine that produces a peak torque of 124 Nm. Transmission duties are performed by a 6 speed gearbox that sends power to the rear wheel. The fuel tank capacity measures 17.8 litres. The Harley Davidson Street Bob comes with a price tag starting at Rs. 10.64 lakhs (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).
