Bajaj Pulsar 180 discontinued

Bajaj Auto has disontinued the Pulsar 180 in India. The manufacturer has not officially made any announcement but the bike has been removed from Bajaj Auto’s website. The decision is expected to be driven by the low demand for the model. Pulsar 180 was before discontinued in 2018 but the company reintroduced it in 2021 as a BS6 model.

It was one of the first pulsars and was powered by a 178cc single cylinder air-cooled engine producing 17 hp at 8,500rpm and 14.2 nm of torque at 6,500rpm. The engine came mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The suspension kit included front telescopic forks and gas-charged twin springs at the back. The braking duties were handled by a 280 mm single disc at the front as well as a 230 mm single rotor at the rear. The brakes work in conjunction with a single-channel ABS. The Pulsar 180 weighed 145kg – nearly 10kg lighter than the 180F.

The design elements of Pulsar 180 included a single-pod headlight with twin DRLs. The headlamp unit was capped with a tinted front main visor. Other key design highlights on the bike were a muscular fuel tank with shrouds, split-style seats, an engine cowl, and a two-piece pillion grab rail. There was also a tweaked semi-digital instrument cluster. The 2021 Pulsar 180 was available in two colours – Laser Black and Nuclear Blue.  And was put in front of the rivals like motorcycles like the TVS Apache RTR 180 and Honda Hornet 2.0.

The removal of Bjaja Pulsar 180 from the Bajaj lineup can be a piece of disappointing news for the Pulsar fans. This Bajaj bike did show a short lifetime just like its sibling Bajaj Pulsar 180F. Although the company had reintroduced it before, so there is a possibility that a new generation of the bike can be introduced in the future.
