The 2018 Auto Expo is about a week away and we’re going to have numerous stalls at the biennial event with various manufacturers showcasing what they have in store for their customers here in India. While we’ve already covered various two and four wheeler manufacturers, this time we tell you what Toyota India plans to show at their pavilion.
The Toyota Yaris also known as the Vios in a few other markets, is a sedan that will rival the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and the Hyundai Verna in the Indian automobile market. It is believed that the India-spec model will be similar to that of the sedan sold in the Singapore market. Dimension wise, the Vios measure 4425 mm in length, 1730 mm in width and 1475 mm in height, while the wheelbase stands at 2550 mm.
Taking inspiration from its elder cousin, the Corolla Altis, the Vios receives sweptback project headlamps divided by a single slat grille with a Toyota logo sitting in between. The posterior of the model features wraparound tail lights and integrated reflectors. Inside, the sedan comes equipped with climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, three spoke steering wheel and a dual pod instrument cluster. It remains unknown which of these features would make it to the India-spec model. At the heart of the Vios will be a 1.5-litre petrol motor that develops 107 hp at 6000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a five speed manual gearbox.
Toyota India has said that the company plans to showcase a number of concepts at their pavilion during the 2018 Auto Expo. According to the brand, while the ‘Today’ precinct will showcase the existing Toyota line-ups, the ‘Tomorrow’ displays the reveals at the Expo and the ‘Future’ corner will unfold varied conceptual models highlighting futuristic breakthrough technologies that Toyota has been working on to realize a better mobility driven by smarter, safer and greener mobility with a vision to enable limitless move for all with no imparities.
Commenting on the subject, N. Raja, Deputy Managing Director – Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “Toyota’s focus at this Auto Expo embodies continuous pursuit of making ever better cars for the rapidly evolving Indian market. With our most awaited new product launch we would like to present to customers the vehicle which not only is advanced in technology but equally designed to bring luxury, safety & comfort. As we step into a new era of alternate and sustainable mobility, our theme will be to drive home the vision of a safer, greener and better future through an array of remarkable product concepts and innovations. We are confident that our displays will throw insights into Toyota’s competence in developing futuristic technologies and our constant endeavor on the offerings for the Indian customers.”
