The environment conscious 2016 Toyota Prius has been revealed to the Indian audience here at the Auto Expo. To be launched here in the near future, the new gen Prius has been tested to go upto 40 kilometers on a liter of fuel.
The current model is powered by a 1.8-Liter, 4-cylinder, VVT-i) engine that offers EV, ECO, and POWER Modes. It makes 95 hp at 5200 rpm and 142 Nm of torque at 3600 rpm. In addition, a permanent magnet AC synchronous motor aids propulsion, churning out 71 hp and 163 NM of twist. Combined together, the hybrid system generates 121 hp of power.
Interior features include a Smart-flow climate control system with pollen filtration, a 6.1-in. touch-screen display, AM/FM CD player, six speakers, advanced voice recognition, a moonroof. A 4.2-in. color dual Multi-Information Display (MID) with customizable screens that displays Energy Monitor, Hybrid System Indicator and Eco Score, Eco Savings Record, Drive Monitor, Eco Wallet, Eco Diary, climate control, driver support systems, audio system content and navigation system content. Lights all round are LED units.
A Qi compatible wireless charging system, a sonar assisted parking support system, colour HUD and a lot of other wizardry comes as standard with the Prius. Not to mention, buyers by default do their bit for the environment.
