India would be the among the first countries to get the new Volkswagen Taigun compact SUV and the car is likely to be priced close to the very successful EcoSport when it comes to our shores. There are little chances of the new Taigun making it to US market, as Taigun’s compact dimensions and small, three-cylinder, gasoline and diesel engine options won’t appeal much to US car buyers, for whom, BIG has always been BEAUTIFUL All the engines for the Taigun will come mated to a 5 speed manual transmissions or a Dual Clutch auto ‘box for some variants.
It may be noted that the Taigun mini SUV was first shown at the Sao Paulo motor show last year and the upcoming EcoSport adversary would share its platform with the Up! city car. Also, the Taigun isn’t likely to get an all wheel drive configuration and the carmaker believes that the Taigun could also rival the Fiat Panda Trekking and the likes.
The Taigun SUV will be assembled in India for all right-hand drive markets.
