We are reporting LIVE from Auto Expo 2014 and Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India have showcased the new CBR650F here. The manufacturer has also made some announcements regarding the laucnh and the production of the new model.
At the event, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Limited have announced that the CBR650F will enter production in India at the start of 2015.
HMSI has also announced its fourth manufacturing facility, which will be located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This factory will commence production in 2015 and will have an annual production capacity of 1.2 million units. This plant will provide as many as 3,000 new jobs and Honda expexted that it will enjoy an annual production capacity of 5.8 million units per annum in India by 2016.
Talking about the new motorcycle that has been unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014, the bike is powered by a 649 cc, in-line four-cylinder 16V DOHC engine that has a max power of 85.8 hp at 11,000 rpm and peak torque of 63 Nm at 8,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and the company says that the bike could have a fuel efficiency of as much as 21 kmpl.
At the Auto Expo 2014, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India have also showcased the new Honda Activa 125 and the CBR500R. The new Honda Activa 125 is slated to go on sale towards the advent of next fiscal and would become the first 125cc auto scooter in the bike maker’s product portfolio. The new Honda CBR500R too is India bound and could come to us as early as towards the end of this year.
