Audi India to Launch A3 Cabriolet and Hatchback Within a Year

Audi India does not have a product in luxury hatchback segment in the Indian market. The other German competitors, BMW and Mercedes-Benz have already launched their hatchbacks. Now, according to a report, the Indian subsidiary of the Ingolstadt based car maker will launch the A3 hatchback and the A3 Cabriolet within a year.

Audi had showcased the A3 Cabriolet at the Auto Expo 2014 along with the A3 sedan, which will be launching in August this year. The Audi A3 Cabriolet shown at the Auto Expo 2014 was the 1.8 liter TFSI model which churns out 180 PS and comes mated to a S-Tronic transmisison. Other engine options on the A3 Cabrio include a 1.4 liter TFSI engine producing 140 hp and the 2.0 TDI motor which develops 150 hp. All engines in the new Audi A3 Cabriolet combine the technologies of direct injection, turbocharging and a start-stop-system.The other players, Mercedes-Benz and BMW do not cater to the entry level Cabriolet segment in the Indian market.

The Audi A3 hatchback will cheapest offering from the car maker followed by the A3 sedan. Upon its India launch, the A3 hatchback will lock horns with the Volvo V40, BMW 1-Series and Mercedes-Benz A class. Although the engine options aren’t confirmed, it is likely that they will be the same ones offered on the sedan version.

    Hi there.Hope to see the cabriolet in India by December 2014 or going to settle for GLA or A class this Christmas.The people at audi in Goa are not aware of plans to launch Cabriolet in India
