Recently showcased at the Hyderabad E Motor Show, the Pininfarina Battista took to the Natrax test facility to achieve a record-breaking speed of 358.03 kmph.
The Record
By setting two new world records, the quarter-mile sprint in 8.55 seconds and the half-mile in 13.38 seconds—the Battista hyper GT has further demonstrated why it is the fastest-accelerating production car in the world. The Battista also beat India’s previous top speed record of 332 kmph in this test. The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), an organization of Indian athletes affiliated with the FIA, certified the top speed records. Not only this, the Battista is now the fastest EV to be tested in India.
Pininfarina Battista Powertrain
The engineers at Automobili Pininfarina at the luxury carmaker’s development center in Italy have fine-tuned the Battista’s unique, sophisticated torque vectoring system, which distributes power across all four wheels via four motors and an impressive torque vectoring system that produces over 1400 kW (1900 hp) and 2340 Nm of torque.
At its test base in Nard, Italy, during its final round of homologation, the Battista previously set a number of performance world records. With a 0-100 km/h completion time of 1.86 seconds and a 0-200 km/h obliteration time of just 4.75 s, Battista’s special launch control technology helps it achieve Formula 1 car-beating acceleration. Official tests also proved that Battista is the world’s fastest electric vehicle at reversing from 100 km/h to zero in just 31 metres.
