Earlier today, Volkswagen India, the Indian subsidiary of Europe’s largest carmaker, launched the new Polo GT TSI. With this launch the Polo 1.2 GT TSI, the hatchback is now on sale in three engine variants- a 1.2 litre 4 cylinder turbo petrol, a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder normally aspirated petrol and a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder turbo diesel.

The new Volkswagen Polo GT TSI is priced at INR 7.99 lakhs (ex showroom, Delhi) and can be booked at all VW India dealerships.

Commenting on the launch of the New Polo GT TSI, Mr. Arvind Saxena, Managing Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd said “In the current market scenario, fuel efficiency has become vital for every customer looking at purchasing a new car. Under these circumstances we strongly feel the need to provide our customer with a choice to opt for an efficient petrol car. The Polo GT TSI is the perfect answer with Maximum Power and Minimum Consumption.”

The Polo 1.2 TSI becomes the hottest B segment hatchback on sale in India today. With a performance figure that can easily put to shame some bigger cars, the new Polo GT TSI is being heralded as the logical successor to the now defunct Polo 1.6 petrol. Volkswagen TSI engines have won a lot of accolades for being compact, high powered and fuel economic in nature. These engines have a high torque figure due to the combination of Direct Petrol injection and intake of high compress air with the use of turbocharger.

The New Polo GT TSI’s 1.2Litre engine has a maximum power output of 77 Kw @ 5000rpm and a maximum torque of 175 Nm @1500-4100 rpm. The motor comes mated to a first-in-class 7 Speed DSG Gear Box.

With so much of torque available so lower down the revs, the Polo GT is really quick off the block. The car is capable of dismissing the 100kmph figure from standstill in less than 10 seconds and has a top whack of 190kmph. To all those who ask “kitna deti hai”, the car comes with an ARAI certified fuel economy of 17.2 kmpl
