The all-new Audi R8 V10 Plus was launched in India at the Auto Expo 2016 yesterday, with prices starting from INR 2.47 Crore. The second generation of the manufacturer’s iconic R8 super-car has gone on to become the most powerful and fastest production Audi ever built. generation Audi R8 V10 Plus at the Auto Expo 2016.
The R8 V10’s new aluminium and carbon intensive Audi Space Frame (ASF) structure means that it’s 50kg lighter and 40% stiffer than the previous model. The naturally-aspirated, 5.2-liter mid mounted V10 engine; a charming rarity in this era of forced induction and Greenpeace activists, makes up to 610 hp of power in Plus guise. Power is intelligently channeled to all the four wheels using Audi’s acclaimed Quattro system and a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The new R8 V10 can sprint to o to 100 kph in just 3.2 seconds, and reach a claimed top speed of 330 km/h.
The exterior design is evolutionary, with tauter surfaces stretched over edgier lines. The trademark side blades of the R8 have been split into two, while the front end adopts a new hexagonal grille. The interior of the all-new Audi R8 features a Monoposto cockpit design with everything focused on the driver and lightweight bucket seats. The R8 is equipped with factory-installed 19-inch forged wheels in 5-twin-spoke design enveloping carbon ceramic brake rotors. Other highlights include Audi’s Drive Select with switchable driving modes, the fully digital and extensively customizable Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster, LED headlights and an improved fuel economy by 13 percent. In addition to the Audi drive select feature, the Audi R8 V10 Plus also comes with a ‘Performance Mode’ for better traction in dry/wet and snow conditions.
