Adventure for the budget conscious: The 2015 KTM Adventure 1050

2015 KTM 1050 Adventure

It’s been pouring motorcycles at EICMA 2014 and here comes the Austrian Adventurer- the 2015 KTM Adventure 1050. Created keeping in mind for budget conscious riders- the new Adventure 1050 looks a twin sibling of the bigger 1190- but with major changes under the hood.

The 1050cc v-twin motor makes 95 bhp as against 150 bhp on the 1190. Also the new 1050 Adventure can be detuned to a mandated power of 48 bhp for A2 licence riders in the European Union- thanks to an optional restrictor kit that can cut down the engine power for norm compliance.

Despite the loss of horsepower, the 2015 KTM Adventure 1050 features a slipper clutch, ride by wire throttle, three-level traction control, and Brembo ABS braking system. Suspension as the case with KTM’s is WP spec’d and the 1050 gets adjustable handlebars, footpegs and windscreen. Fueling capacity is a decent 22 litres and the 2015 KTM Adventure 1050 weighs 211 kgs in ride ready format.

Specifically catering to the European market, the new Adventure 1050 is priced at 13,150 Euros.

KTM would also be offering a range of PowerParts such as luggage system, heated seats, grips, alarm systems etc. for owners looking to pimp their rides for an adventure outing.

  1. hardly budget price – this is simply to get them into the inexperienced rider market in Europe. It might seem cheap to those used to the sticker shock that comes with the 1190 or upcoming 1290 but basically it obeys Euro standards which dictate a restricted 35kW limit for novice riders and are not allowed to be more than double that in derestricted form.
Of course they’d like to pinch some sales from similarly specced soft roader adventurers like Suzukis well received 2014 Vstrom (1037cc 100hp)
