2024 Duster: New Interiors, Powertrain & Off-Road Equipment

The 3rd generation of Renault’s famed SUV – the Duster has been officially unveiled under its sub-brand Dacia in Europe. And in the last post, we talked you through the exterior looks of the new SUV. Now let us show you the interiors of the all-new 2024 Duster. We will also discuss the various powertrain options available for the SUV as well as the offroad tech that it gets.

2024 Duster: All-New Interiors

Renault has overhauled the cabin of the revamped Duster, introducing a new double-layered dashboard and center console layout. The color scheme incorporates contrasting light and dark grey shades for the dash. The Y-shaped inserts adorning the AC vents are available in silver or bronze. This Y design is carried in the door trim armrests too. Dominating the chunky all-black dashboard is a prominent 10.1-inch floating infotainment system, complementing the revamped aircon vents. The SUV also provides 12-volt charging and 2 USB C-type charging points in both the front and rear seats.

Notably, the center console and touchscreen are angled slightly toward the driver, aiming to create a more cockpit-like ambiance. The interior showcases physical buttons for HVAC and media controls, alongside a dedicated phone holder nestled between the touchscreen and digital driver’s display. Additionally, Renault has revamped the gear selector lever for the automatic transmission variants, now equipped with an electronic parking brake.

Renault boasts that the new CMF-B platform has allowed engineers to optimize interior space in the 3rd generation Duster. This translates into improved legroom, headroom, and shoulder space for both front and rear passengers.

2024 Duster: Features

The updated Duster includes a range of features such as a wireless charger, automatic climate control, and an Arkamys 3D sound system with six speakers. The rear seats offer a 60:40 split, while the dashboard showcases a digital instrument cluster behind a new three-spoke flat-bottomed steering wheel. The base model retains a semi-digital driver’s display. The revised steering wheel incorporates additional buttons for calling, cruise control, and managing the infotainment system.

Safety and Driver Assistance: In terms of safety, the 2024 Duster is equipped with multiple airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Powertrain Options in European Markets

Renault has announced that there will be no diesel engines in the new Duster. There are a total of three engines available for the Duster in European markets. This include a 140hp 1.6-liter 4-cylinder petrol hybrid with two electric motors and regenerative braking. We’ve already seen this engine as it is offered in the Dacia Jogger MPV where it produces 148Nm with a mileage of 24.5kmpl.

There’s also a 130hp 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol mild hybrid with a 48V starter motor. The output of this motor is not known as of now. But it will be this motor which will be offered with the 4×4 versions of the SUV. And lastly a 1.0-liter petrol-LPG/CNG engine which is available only in select markets. However, it’s unlikely for this engine option to be available in India.

Off-Road Equipment

The Duster will be offered in both 4X2 and 4X4 variants, boasting multiple terrain modes for enhanced off-road capabilities. Renault claims impressive specs, including a ground clearance of 217mm, an approach angle of 31 degrees, and a departure angle of 36 degrees. The model also features hill-descent control.

We can expect this sensational SUV to come to our shores by 2025. The Duster and its Nissan derivative will be entering a hotly competitive segment in the Indian market. With strong contenders like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, MG Astor, and Citroen C3 Aircross.
