2023 Honda City To Get New Variants

Honda City facelift is all set for its official market launch, and new details about the refreshed sedan keep coming-up. The City facelift’s new variant details have now been now leaked out.

The Honda City facelift is going to launch around the first week of March. While prices have not been announced yet, the latest reports suggest that the Japanese automaker could introduce a new variant.

Here is all that we know about the 2023 Honda City Facelift.

New Variants

It’s said that a new entry-level trim for the petrol and strong-hybrid variants of the mid-size sedan could get introduced. The City will now get an entry-level SV MT base trim level for the petrol model.

The V MT, V CVT, VX MT, VX CVT, ZX MT, and ZX CVT will now sit above the new trim.

Honda will also be introducing a new variant for the City e:HEV hybrid. Currently, the hybrid sedan is only offered with the top-end ZX trim that is priced over Rs 4 lakh than the normal top petrol variant.

As a result, the new variant will bridge the gap between both the petrol and the strong hybrid models. Thus making it an affordable choice for consumers.

Engines & Powertrains

There will be two powertrains on offer – a 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol and a 1.5L Atkinson cycle with Honda’s e:HEV hybrid tech. While the former gives out 121bhp and 145Nm of torque, the latter is good for 126bhp and 253Nm.

The petrol motor comes with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. The hybrid setup will come with an eCVT transmission and prioritized electric-only mode in start/stop conditions.

There will be no diesel engines on offer from any of Honda’s cars sold in India. The automaker has discontinued all its diesel engines due to the upcoming RDE norms.

Bookings & Prices

The bookings of the new City facelift are underway at the dealership level for a token of Rs 21,000. The updated sedan is expected to be costlier than its outgoing model by Rs 50,000 to Rs 80,000. The facelifted Honda sedan has been dispatched and started to reach the automaker’s sales outlets as well.

Honda is also working on a new SUV for the Indian market which was spied testing.
